But one thing you should never forget..... a flashlight!
Yeah we forgot to bring one with us and let me tell you I will NEVER forget it ever again. Trying to find your way to the bathroom on unlit dirt paths is nearly impossible. I tried using a lighter but after a short while those suckers start burning your thumb. A friend had suggested I try using the light from my cell phone to light my way, but that's not a good idea when you've been drinking. Why? Because you only end up dropping it and then the light goes off when it hits the ground, so then your adventure to find the bathroom is delayed a bit longer while you search for your cell phone. Thank goodness I have a strong bladder.....especially when I couldn't stop laughing!
And don't tell me I should've just gone in the woods. I couldn't SEE , remember? Have you ever tried to venture off towards the woods, not knowing where you're going, what you might be stepping on? Or tripping over for that matter. And don't forget about poison ivy! So yeah, that wasn't a good idea either. Remember, I had been drinking.
If you've never been camping, I highly recommend it. Well, that is if you enjoy being outdoors and having to 'rough it' at times. Because being surrounded by the beauty of nature and all of its glory.... it truly does wonders for your soul.
Just don't forget a flashlight!
LOL, too funny... Yes, I can remember a few camping trips like yours..LOL On one trip I was in the Utah desert with some friends. One of my friends said he would bring food for the trip. He brought, a can of beans (no can opener) and a bag of BBQ chips, a case of beer and a candy bar and that was it. The next day we made the 80 mile drive to a town and went to pizza hut.

ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time. Flashlightless and all! Here's a tip. Keep a decent quality flashlight in your truck... Or car at all times. One of them things it's great to have... when ya really need one.
And here I always thought your smile could light up a room, guess it still does, just not a path in the woods.

Well, you know that I have never been tent camping, but I have slept in the bed of my F250 a few times out in the middle of nowhere. I think a tent would be a nice addition!
ReplyDeleteAs for your flashlightless outhouse search, yeah the cell phone could have been a nice night light but you have to be aware of the dangers of 'drinking in the wilderness have to go potty' dialing!
I haven't been camping in a whole lot of years. We always did have a good time when we went though. :)
